Although they played under the name of Boys and Girls Club of Sweet Home this year and played predominantly Boys and Girls Club schedules, the junior high boys and junior high girls teams were almost completely made up of Sweet Home Junior High School players.
Each team had one player from another school.
The boys had an outstanding year, going 9-0-1 and scoring 59 goals, while allowing only 16 under the guidance of coaches Ramiro Santana and Keith Winslow.
The girls team was without a coach initially and parent Lori Currey stepped in as the season began. She was helped by Lela Danforth, one of last year’s coaches, and a number of other parents during the course of the season.
The girls finished 4-3-2 after losing their last two games on successive days to Independence and Blanchet. They lost 3-2 at Independence in a game riddled with fouls, and were visibly depleted the next day in a 5-1 loss to Blanchet the next day. They played Lebanon’s girls team four times, tying twice, losing once and winning the last faceoff. They dominated Albany over the course of three matches.
