Cascade 6

Sweet Home 1

The Cascade softball team defeated the Huskies 6-1 at Cascade on Thursday,.

“Cascade is probably the best team in the league right now,” Coach Rob Younger said. “They won six games last week.”

Cascade hit well against the Huskies, Coach Younger said. “At times, we competed well. We just have to learn to compete seven innings.”

Out of Cascade’s six runs, only one was earned.

Teresa Lewis went 2-2 for the Huskies. Jamie Miller went 1-3. Raelynn Wirth went 1-3.

Miller singled then scored on a single from Lewis for the Huskies’ only run.

Pitching, Ashley Wall threw well at times, though sometimes the defense behind her wasn’t great, Coach Younger said. Other times, she didn’t throw as well. She pitched all three of last week’s games.

The Huskies hold a 2-8 league record and a 4-8 overall record.

The Huskies are home against Molalla on Thursday and Sisters on Tuesday.

North Marion defeated the Huskies 8-1 on Tuesday last week.

“I didn’t think our girls played as well as they’re capable of playing,” Coach Younger said. “We just need to work on consistency and continue to strive to get better. I think the next day, we came out and played much better against Stayton.”
