North Marion 3
Sweet Home 2
North Marion narrowly slipped by the Husky softball team for a 3-2 win Thursday at North Marion.
North Marion scored an early 1-0 lead. Sweet Home came back and scored runs in the third and fourth innings to take a 2-1 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh, North Marion led off walking a girl. She scored the run to tie the game on a double.
The hitter gave the Huskies some trouble as they fought to keep her from scoring, Coach Rob Younger said, but she managed to get in with the winning run.
“It was a tough loss for us,” Coach Younger said. We played well and just came up on the short end. We had our opportunities to win, and that’s all we can ask for.”
Teresa Lewis hit a single. Jamie Miller hit a double to lead off scoring for the Huskies. She also had a single.
Ashley Wall pitched well fighting “a little bit of a cold blustery day,” Coach Younger said.
The Huskies played their last league game at home Monday night. They enter conference playoffs on Thursday or Friday.

Sisters 1
The Huskies defeated Sisters 4-1 on Monday last week at home.
“I was really pleased with that,” Coach Younger said. “This was, by far, our best game in a long time. The girls came out with confidence, and it showed.”
Wall pitched a “really good game,” Coach Younger said. She had a 78-percent strikeout to ball ratio. When Sisters did put the ball in play, Wall had extremely good defense behind her.
Hitting, Lewis went 2-3 with an RBI. Ashley Horn went 1-3 with an RBI. Selena Culley went 1-3 with an RBI. Raelynn Wirth and Kendra Greene also had hits.
