The Husky softball team lost two games at home last week.
Cascade won Tuesday 4-2. North Marion won later in the week 3-0.
“Overall, first of all, I thought our pitching was outstanding,” Coach Rob Younger said. Teresa Lewis pitched 14 innings. She gave up only seven hits and no unearned runs. “We gave our opponents a lead, and both times, it was just one inning.”
Cascade went up three in the third inning, and North Marion went up three in the first.
“Offensively, we never really got anything going,” Coach Younger said. “We couldn’t bunch our hits together.”
There were many times, Coach Younger said, that the Huskies had runners on base in scoring position but couldn’t come up with the key hits.
“We’re not a long ways from being successful,” Coach Younger said. “It’s just doing a few little things here and there,” bunching hits but not errors together.
“The girls played hard all week, and I’m very, very pleased with their effort,” Coach Younger said.
Against Cascade, the Huskies had five hits from five players, including Lei Himan-Teves, Jamie Miller and Nicole Starha. Lewis hit a double, and Ashley Horn hit a run-scoring single.
Against North Marion, Himan-Teves, Starha and Sieg all singled. Kendra Greene hit a double.
