Softball team tops Sisters 11-4

Sisters 4

The Husky softball team defeated Sisters 11-4 Thursday at Sisters.

“It was our best game of the year,” Coach Rob Younger said. “We had 11 hits, scored all seven innings and played good defense on a cold Central Oregon day.”

The Huskies scored two runs in the first, second, third and seventh innings. They scored a run the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Coach Younger thinks it may be the first time he’s had a team score a run in every inning.

The Huskies played well and consistently, Coach Younger said. Five of the runs came on two outs with no one on base.

Jamie Miller hit a home run for the Huskies. Teresa Lewis and Jenna Anderson had two hits each, and Kendra Greene hit the ball well. Also hitting were Courtney Walker, Selena Culley and Ashley Wall.

“I thought Susie Sieg had some really nice plays out in right field Thursday,” Coach Younger said. Against Sisters and against Molalla earlier in the week, “we had consistent, strong pitching.”

Wall pitched the Sisters game.

The Huskies lost 7-1 at Molalla on April 22.

Against Molalla, the Huskies’ first four batters did a good job, scoring a run, Coach Younger said. The Huskies had one out with runners at second and third, but the Huskies didn’t produce another hit.

Molalla scored on two or three errors to put the Huskies behind the eight ball, Coach Younger said. The Huskies had six hits total, but never came up with the key hits when runners were at second and third.

Lewis pitched the game.
