Sweet Home 10, North Marion 2
The Husky softball team dominated North Marion on April 11 on the road, winning 10-2.
“Big win to go on the road against a dangerous North Marion team,” was how Coach Steve Hummer described it. “North Marion is very young and has a lot of potential.
“Makenzie (Marchbanks) really shut them down, and the girls did a great job at the plate. We collected 11 bits, six stolen bases and really put some pressure on them.
“Coach Thorpe did an outstanding job of filling in for me as I could not be there due to a family emergency. The kids really handled the adversity well and stayed focused. I am very proud of them.”
Pitching, Marchbanks, 8-2, struck out 10 batters, walked two batters and gave up four hits and two earned runs. Sara Brocard caught. Defense committed only a single error on the game.
On offense, Chelsea Gregory went 2-3 with a double. Idahna Huenergardt, Nicki Aerni and Jessalyn Seiber went 2-4. Olivia Lake went 1-2.
The Huskies are 8-3 overall and 4-2 in league play.

Sweet Home 12, Sisters 1
The Huskies finished off Sisters 12-1 in five innings on April 13 on the road.
“Mac (Marchbanks) held them hitless and without a runner for 4 1/3 innings,” Hummer said. “She was perfect until they came up with a single and a double in the fifth. She is really pitching well as we start the second round of league play.”
Marchbanks gave up two hits
“Offensively, we took advantage of five errors and nine hits to score 12 runs,” Hummer said. “The girls are really starting to come on at the plate as we have progressed into the season.
“Chelsea Gregory has added another great bat to our lineup since coming up from the JV. Marchbanks is hitting over .400; and Cliver, Aerni, and Huenegardt have become very consistant hitters. Oliva Lake has really caught on fire as well.
“We play Cascade on Tuesday (April 18) which is big game for us. They are on top of the league at 6-0 and beat us 3-2 in nine innings earlier this year. We feel we are a different team offensively and are ready to meet a big challenge. We play at Molalla (4-2) on Thursday. This is a moving week for us, big week, a week in which we can make a stamp on the conference.”
