Sonia Haydee Romero, 71, of Sweet Home, died Nov. 22, 2021.
She was born June 18, 1950 in Guatemala City, Guatemala, to Emma Rosa Herrera Martinez and Jose Edmundo Meza Azurdia. She was raised in Guatemala City before moving to Southern California in her early 20s.
Mrs. Romero had lived in Oregon for the past 27 years. She loved animals and, prior to living in Oregon, raised canaries and was able to mimic their song. She loved gardening, reading poetry and devotionals, baking and sewing things for her grandkids. She also enjoyed watching travel documentaries and aspired to visit the places she saw. She also loved to listen to music and was known to break out into a dance whenever a song was playing.
Mrs. Romero is survived by her husband, Jose Romero of Sweet Home; children Fabiola Romero of San Diego, Calif., Jose Gustavo Romero of McMinnville, and Haydee Romero of Los Angeles, Calif.; siblings Carmen Alicia Schaper of Bellflower, Calif., and Mario Meza of Rio Rancho, N.M.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
