Princess Shaina Burnett, 18, enjoyed her high school graduation Friday evening and is looking forward to a busy summer on the Sportsman’s Holiday court.

Princess Shaina is the daughter of Rick and Alice Burnett of 1016 Turbyne Road. She has a brother Keegan, 19, a sophomore at Lane Community College and a sister, McKenna, 13, a seventh grader.

She has a 3.33 GPA.

During high school Princess Shaina was involved in leadership and class boards and was on the Husky track team for four years.

In the community, she helped with the school-wide community cleanup day and Thanksgiving baskets and a clothing drive.

Princess Shaina volunteers to help raise money for victims of the Foster apartment fires, helps at the Oregon Jamboree and with Thanksgiving baskets.

Her hobbies include “hanging out with friends and shopping.

During high school she worked at Dairy Queen, American Family Video and Figaro’s Pizza.

She tried out for the court, “Because I wanted to have fun and it looks like a good experience.”

Princess Shaina says she makes a difference in the community by “setting an example for younger kids and giving the youth of Sweet Home a voice.”

She will be a good representative for the community because she is involved in both school and community activities.

A good friend would call Princess Shaina, “Outgoing, nice, funny, high-spirited, hard working and takes pride in what she does.”

Princess Shaina likes Sweet Home “because I love the fact that you can walk down the street and know half the people you see. In a big city, you can’t do that.”

Her hero is fellow classmate Andrea Martin because “she always does what she believes is right.”

If she could live in any other time period it would “be the 1980s because it was a fun time and things were much easier.”
