Update: The Sportsman’s Holiday Horse Play Day is canceled due to the weather. Organizer Kimberley Brock said the field is too wet to hold the event. Planning is under way for three play days in August, September and October.
The Sportsman’s Holiday Horse Play Day scheduled for Sunday is changing time and location.
The event will be held at 28706 Scott Mountain Road, said volunteer organizer Kimberley Brock. Registration will begin at 9 a.m.
Brock said it is best reached by traveling Highway 20 to Liberty Road, Mountain Home Drive and then Scott Mountain, the second house on the left.
The event remains open to the public. To participate costs $35. Jackpot events cost $25 each, and admission is free for spectators.
Spectators should bring their own lawn chairs.
The event is moving because the preparations for the grounds at the Sweet Home Events Center, 4000 Long St., cannot be completed, moving everything and tilling the field, in time for the play day.
After the Play Day on Sunday, depending on how things turn out, Brock is hoping to begin the process for the 2017 Sportsman’s Holiday by scheduling three more events throughout the year, culminating in a play day on Sportsman’s Holiday next year.
