Stayton defeated the Sweet Home softball team 7-1 on May 6 at home.
“Other than just one inning, I felt we competed really well,” Coach Rob Younger said. “We had a 1-0 lead going into the third inning.”
Stayton bunched several singles in the fourth inning to take control of the game, Coach Younger said. Stayton scored three runs in the inning and followed up with four runs in the fifth.
Jamie Miller, Teresa Lewis, Kendra Greene, Ashley Wall and Selena Culley all hit singles.
Greene scored the Huskies’ one run, Coach Younger said. “She made some good base-running decisions.”
Ashley Wall pitched the game.
The Huskies hold a 2-10 league record and a 4-10 overall record.
The junior varsity defeated Stayton 14-3 then posted only its second loss for the season 11-3 to Molalla. the junior varsity is 14-2 overall.

The Huskies lost 14-3 to Molalla on Thursday at home.
“Again, we had a 3-1 lead going into the fourh inning and were playing very well,” Coach Younger said. Molalla had an explosive inning, scoring nine runs on three Husky errors in the fourth.
Other than that inning, Coach Younger thought the Huskies played tough against what he considers the best hitting team in the league.
Lewis hit a double. Jenna Anderson went 2-3 with a double. Wall hit a single. Wall, Miller and Lewis scored runs.
