I read your fine paper weekly on-line. In regard to the article on street name changes (July 30), I was hoping to see either “Roy Clover ” street or “Chuck Smith” street. Both of these fine men contributed greatly to Sweet Home as police chiefs, both died while in office as chief.
I was a sergeant with Sweet Home Police Department at the time of both their reigns. Both men were outstanding citizens, who cared greatly for Sweet Home and its citizens. I can recall Roy coming to a fatal accident scene I was investigating and hugging the lady that had just run over a pedestrian and was quite upset.
His kindness never escaped me.
