Students ready to perform ‘Many Disguises of Robinhood’

Sweet Home High School students will perform “The Many Disguises of Robinhood” Thursday through Saturday, May 27, 28 and 29, at the high school’s auditorium.

Seating starts at 6:45 p.m. on May 27 and 28, and 1:45 on May 29. The performances will be live-streamed, and a maximum of 50 people will be allowed to sit in the audience to view the play in person. Tickets are $3 per person.

“It’s a lot of fun. People should come check it out,” said Cy Maughmer, a language arts teacher at the high school who is directing the play.

Maughmer said the play is a comedy. He said the performance “has a lot of the feel and typical scenarios that the Disney classic and a lot of the retellings of Robin Hood have, but there’s a twist. There’s some definite spins on it.”

Maughmer added that “this play is just really well put together, as far as all the setups with the comedy and the contrasts between the characters. We had a lot of fun putting it together.”

The high school students have been rehearsing the performance for 2½ months, basically since in-building school resumed.

Usually the high school puts on two plays each year, Maughmer said. But due to the COVID pandemic, this will be the sole production for this school year.
