Cascade 10, Sweet Home 3
Game one of doubleader
Cascade dominated the Huskies summer baseball team in the first inninng of a doubleheader at Cascade on June 10, scoring 10 runs and paving the way to a 10-3 win.
“We just had an awful first inning,” Coach Dan Tow said. “We struggled with control, defense; and every ball they hit was in a hole. After giving up so many runs in the first inningn, we were in too big of a hole to get out.
“We didn’t give up another run the rest of the game. Our defense didn’t commit anothe error, and we only gave up one hit.
“I thought Kyle Pettit had a very good outing on the mound.”
Adam Hummer was starting pitcher for the Huskies. Pettit pitched in relief and had nine strikeouts. Olsen was winning pitcher.
Chaz Davis and Kyle Pettit both hit doubles. Ray Lingenfelter hit an RBI.

“We got a nice effort from Greg Sipe on the mound,” Tow said. Sipe had 10 strikeouts and only one walk. He gave up nine hits.
“He really had good control out there,” Tow said. “Also, we hit the ball well up and down the lineup, and we drove in a lot of runs and took advantage of the things they gave us.”

The Huskies opened their summer season with a 8-3 win at Kennedy on June 7.
“This was our first game of the summer, and we looked a little sloppy early,” Tow said. “But we got things going finally and got some big hits. Our three pitchers had 15 strikeouts, and that is obviously going to make life easy on your defense.”
Hummer was starting pitcher. Pettit and Sipe pitched in relief.
At bat, Davis went 3-4, and Skyler Bascom had a double. Pettit hit a two-run homerun.
