Linn County Sheriff’s detectives have made an arrest in the murder of a person reported missing in 1987 and whose remains were found near Sweet Home in 1989.
Undersheriff Bruce Riley said detectives routinely conduct reviews of all open homicide and missing person cases, which, he said, involves evaluating evidence, statements, and determining if viable leads exist in each case. One of those cases involved the disappearance of 35-year-old Thomas Francis Hyland.
