Following are current or former Sweet Home residents who have graduated from universities or college, as reported to The New Era.
Elea Hewitt, of Sweet Home, graduated May 23 from Yale University’s Branford Residential College. Hewitt, a 2017 Sweet Home High School graduate, earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, with a concentration in environmental justice.
Oregon State University graduated more than 7,300 students June 12 during ceremonies Saturday, June 11 at Reser Stadium on the Corvallis campus and Sunday, June 12, at the OSU-Cascades campus in Bend.
The 7,318 graduates received 7,574 degrees.
The number of graduates was the second most in university history, behind only last year. They will add to the ranks of OSU alumni, who have earned 280,013 degrees over the university’s history.
Local students graduating this June from Oregon State included:

— Vince Romo, bachelor of science, horticulture.
— Jared Smith, bachelor of science, summa cum laude, mathematics;
— James Taylor, bachelor of science, magna cum laude, computer science;
