Sweet Home basketball All-League selections, swimming/wrestling state qualifiers

Above, Sweet Home boys and girls wrestlers who qualified for state stand with coaches at this year’s OSAA 4A state championships, at which Sweet Home won the team title. Boys qualifiers and their district finishes, in alphabetical order, were:  Gavin Baker (third at 157), Martin Chelstad (third at 165), Elijah Cruz (second at 215), Dillan Davis (second at 144), Michael Eggers (third at 190),  Zeek Gosnell (third at 175), Tytus Hardee (second at 132), James Hearick (second at 150), Keegan Jefferson (first at 113), Jesse Landtroop (first at 126),  Liam Martin (third at 285), Luke Rosa (first at 175), Lynkin Royer (first at 285),  Cody Sieminski (first at 106), Conner Spencer (second at 126), Jeremiah Steagall (second at 190), Cael Stevenson (third at 132), Riley Vaughan (first at 120), Jasper Victor (fourth at 144) and Kyle Zajic (second at 165). Girls qualifiers and their regional finishes were:  Eturnity Allison (second at 170),  Bailey Chafin (first at 125), Madison Looney (second at 145), Lyla Ventura (fourth at 110), Alizeah Weikel (second at 115) and Kass Zajic (third at 110). Chafin and Landtroop won state championships and were named to First Team All-State honors. Sieminski, Jefferson, Vaughan, Hardee, Davis and Rosa finished second and were named Second Team All-State. Steagal and Weikel were third and named Third Team All-State. Fourth, and named All-State Honorable Mention were Stevenson, Kyle Zajic, Cruz, Hearick and Royer. For the girls, Weikel placed third at state and was named to the All-State Third Team; Kass Zajic was fourth and named All-State Honorable Mention, and Ventura placed fifth.

These Huskies finished the basketball season with All-League honors or qualified for state in swimming. In front, from left, are Addy Vannice, Honorable Mention All-League in girls basketball; Ella Haggas, state qualifier in swimming;  Austyn Hogan, state swimming qualifier and Third Team All-State in the 500 Freestyle; Aaliyah Brown, Honorable Mention All-League in girls basketball; Taylor Gaskey, Honorable Mention All-League in girls basketball;  Emma Whitton, state swimming qualifier;  Khloe Sautel, state swimming runner-up in the 500 Free and named Second Team All-State in that event, and third in the 50 free, with Third-Team All-State honors in the 50 Free; Kylie Melkvik, state swimming qualifier; and Andrew Tolman, state runner-up and Second Team All-State in the 100 Backstroke. In the rear are: Mason Tyler, Second Team All-League in boys basketball;  Bradyn McClure, First Team All-League in boys basketball; Kellen Hartsook, Honorable Mention All-League in boys basketball; and Henry Jones, state qualifier in swimming. Not pictured is Grayson Savri, state swimming qualifier.
