Chase Branson of Sweet Home
was the overall winner in the Sweet
Home Rock and Mineral Show’s
People’s Choice competition, in
which visitors vote on the exhibits
they like the best.
A total of 2,230 people paid to
attend the 62nd annual show Saturday
and Sunday at the Sweet Home
High School Activities Gym, organizers
said.
The total count was 1,815
adults and 371 children, who got
plastic eggs filled with polished
rocks.
Branson, whose father Todd
Branson is a member of the Sweet
Home Rock and Mineral Club
along with his son, won for his
exhibit of cabochons standing on
copper stands he made.
Second place in the People’s
Choice competition went to Tim
Dodge for a display of rock logs
and logging trucks. Third place
went to Cathee Bethel of Lebanon.
