The
Huskies lost three games at home in girls basketball last week,
including Junction City 49-22 on Feb. 11, La Pine 44-15 on Feb. 12
and Sisters 49-42 Friday night.
The
loss to Sisters was the best news of the week as the Huskies held a
good lead through most of the game against a team that had beaten
them 44-16 the last time they played.
“That
was probably one of our best games,” said Coach Steve Brown. “We
played well.”
Sweet
Home led 11-6 at the end of the first quarter and 20-16 at halftime.
They stumbled near the end of the third quarter, and the Outlaws were
able to get ahead 35-28, a deficit the Huskies couldn’t erase.

Home tossed away a few unforced turnovers and ran into some trouble
with the Sisters press while missing several on the front end
shooting 1-1 from the foul line, Brown said.
“A
few times, we did what we were supposed to and put points up,”
Brown said about breaking the Sisters press. “The problem was they
would forget how to do that the next time.”
Scoring
success was similar between the two teams, Brown said. “Really it
came down to turnovers.”
He
is hoping the game will boost his team’s confidence, he said.
“People tell me, and I make sure they (the girls) know they can see
the improvement. People are noticing.”
And
the team is building a good foundation for a basketball program,
Brown said.
Against
La Pine, the Huskies trailed 14-3 after a quarter, 25-8 at halftime
and 33-10 after three quarters.
Against
Junction City, the Huskies trailed 12-2 at the end of the first
quarter, 31-6 at halftime and 41-16 at the end of the third.
Katie
Virtue and Amanda Hubbard were out of town and did not play last
week.
