Sweet Home High School Hosts Baseball Awards Banquet

Sweet Home High School’s baseball program celebrated their successes in their annual awards banquet Wednesday, May 22.  

The banquet started in the High School auditorium, and began with praises from Head Coach Evan Teter to everyone who made the season possible. 

Following the community accolades, Teter began the annual banquet, starting with awards given to the JV players from Coach Mike Carpenter. 

After the JV awards, the Varsity team received their awards. All players received personal awards, and three specific players received awards that were voted on by coaches. The Gold Glove award went to the best fielder, Kyle Zajic. The Big Stick award went to the best offensive player, Huston Holly, and Pitcher of the year also went to Holly. 

Concluding the coach awards were four more awards, that were voted on by players. Kyle Zajic received rookie of the year (the best player in their first varsity season) and the most valuable player. Luke Rosa secured the hustle award, with a tie for most improved with Jason Funk.

The remaining seniors were all recognized during the awards, and given a wood bat with their name, jersey number, and a husky logo to represent the time they spent in the program as a reminder. This was a tradition that started before I took over,” Teter said. “but I think it is an awesome thing and is something I hope to continue.”
