Linn County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Sweet Home area man on six counts of felon in possession of a firearm Tuesday after serving a search warrant at 39636 Mountain Home Drive.
Linn County Regional SWAT served the warrant at approximately 7:45 a.m. and arrested Allen Maurice Diggs, 73, of Sweet Home. Diggs was lodged at Linn County Jail.
Several adults and children, including Diggs, were present at the time the search warrant was served, said Sheriff Bruce Riley.
The investigation started when a deputy had an encounter with Diggs in the Quartzville area of Linn County, Riley said. During the encounter, Diggs was allegedly in possession of several firearms, and at the time, his criminal history was not known.
Upon further investigation and a criminal history check, LCSO confirmed that Diggs is restricted from possessing firearms, Riley said. A search warrant was granted to search and seize any weapons in the possession of Diggs.
Several firearms were seized during the investigation, including a .38-caliber revolver, a .44-caliber black powder pistol, a .45-caliber black powder rifle, a .270-caliber rifle, a .357 revolver and two .22-caliber rifles. Also seized were approximately 1000 rounds of ammunition in various calibers.
