Sweet Home man killed in Hwy. 99 accident

A Sweet Home man was killed Saturday night after he was struck by a vehicle on Highway 99W south of Monmouth.

Justin Yeoman, 19, died at the scene of the accident. Tyson Spearman, 20, of Sweet Home was transported to Corvallis Good Samaritan Hospital for minor injuries.

Southbound, Spearman pulled his Ford Bronco II to the side of the road when the vehicle started rattling. Spearman and Yeoman got out of the Bronco to see if they could find what was wrong.

Yeoman was riding in the back, so he was getting back in the driver’s side, State Police Lt. Dale Rutledge said. Another southbound vehicle veered across the line and struck both Yeoman and Spearman.

That driver, Linda Hamilton, 44, of Corvallis was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence of a controlled substance. She was driving a 1994 Nissan pickup. She was lodged in Polk County Jail.
