A Sweet Home man was sentenced last week to 90 months in prison after pleading guilty, in August, to first-degree sexual abuse in Linn County Circuit Court.
Joshua James Deffenbaugh, 35, was charged Jan. 30 with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse and one of first-degree sexual penetration.
He pleaded guilty Aug. 29 to one sexual abuse charge and the other two were dismissed. According to court records, the alleged victim was under the age of 12 and 14 during that time span in which the crimes occurred, between January 2014 and June 2017.
Records list Deffenbaugh’s residence on Wiley Creek Drive. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.
In 2003, Deffenbaugh pled guilty to felony first-degree attempted rape and attempted sodomy.
He was sentenced then to time served in jail and ordered to register as a sex offender and to avoid contact with anyone under 14 years of age and no contact with the victim.
A first-degree sexual abuse charge in that case was dismissed.
