The 62-year-old owner of Sweet Home’s Midway Grocery died in a crash on Highway 228 on Aug. 15.
Bonnie Lee Badgley of Sweet Home was pronounced dead at the scene.
Oregon State Police are continuing to investigate the crash and are seeking additional information from any potential witnesses.
At approximately 10:34 a.m., a red 1994 Dodge 2500 pickup driven by Stephen J. Dyal, 54, of Springfield was westbound near milepost nine, about three miles east of Brownsville, when it crossed the center line and collided head on with an eastbound 2008 Chevrolet Equinox sport utility vehicle driven by Badgley.
Preliminary information indicated the pickup may have been attempting to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone, but that has not been confirmed, according to Lt. Gregg Hastings, public information officer.
Badgley was using a seatbelt, and her vehicle’s airbags deployed. A dog in the vehicle was not injured and was later taken to the Linn County animal shelter to await the return to her family.
Dyal was transported by ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield with non-life-threatening injuries. He was using a seatbelt, and his pickup’s airbags deployed.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Lebanon Police Department, Brownsville Fire Department and Oregon Department of Transportation.
The highway was closed for three hours.
Badgley moved to Sweet Home in 1988. She was the owner and “The Real Boss” at Midway Grocery. She also was a bartender at the Vet’s Club and the Elks Lodge. She is survived by her husband, Stanley W. Badgley Jr., two children and six grandchildren.
Her obituary appears on page 2, and a memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, at the Community Chapel.
