Sweet Home Rememberances

Memorial Day observances were spread over several days in Sweet Home this year.

Hawthorne School sixth-graders held a special ceremony recognizing veterans and the fallen on Thursday, May 22 at the Veterans Memorial on Main Street.

The students held a wreath-laying ceremony and presented speeches honoring veterans and explaining the value of their sacrifices. Ken Collins played “Taps.” Shawn Anderson volunteered to repaint the faded memorial sign prior to the event.

Boys Scouts from Troop 395 raised the flag at the Memorial Day ceremony at Gilliland Cemetery. For more photos of the events, see our photo galleries.
