Sweet Home rolls over Sutherlin, Cottage Grove in softball

The Huskies continued rolling over their opponents last week, extending their win streak to seven games in varsity softball.

In the closest game of the last six, they beat Sutherlin 10-2 at home on May 2 and then defeated twice Cottage Grove under the 10-run rule in five innings, 22-0 at home May 4 and 18-1 on the road Friday.

They’ll face Junction City at home on Tuesday and on the road on Friday.

The Huskies, 11-2, are second in league behind Elmira, 12-1. Junction City, 9-4, is third.

The Huskies defeated Junction City 2-1 the last time they faced off.

To take the top spot in league, the Huskies need to win both games, and Elmira would have to lose to Cottage Grove twice, a highly unlikely outcome. Cottage Grove has just one win all season, while the Huskies are the only team to have beaten Elmira this year.

The Huskies were scheduled to host Junction City on Tuesday and travel to Junction City on Friday. A non-league game against Blanchet Catholic is scheduled at home on May 17.
