Sweet Home ‘s Olson named to veterans board

Ric Olson of Sweet Home has been elected to the slate of officers for the Veterans Commoration Association for 2010.

Olson will serve as sergeant at arms. Louie White will serve as president, Bill Clotere as first vice president, Patty Lousiana as second vice president, Al Severson as treasurer, Roger Schrater as secretary and Joseph Novak as chaplain.

The organization has announced that its parade theme for the 2010 Veterans Day Parade, to be held Nov. 11, will be “Their Service, Our Freedom.”

Planning and fund-raising has begun and we are currently accepting nominations for the Distinguished Veteran and Veteran of the Year programs. Anyone or any organization may submit an honorably discharged veteran for either program.

Distinguished veterans are honored for their exemplary military service while a Veteran of the Year will be honored for their service to community, state and nation since their discharge.

The entire Mid-Valley community is encouraged to become a part of the parade, which brings yearly attention to the area as the biggest Veterans Day parade west of the Mississippi. For more information, contact the committee at (541) 981-2396 or at [email protected].
