The Huskies blew through Sisters Friday, shutting out the Outlaws 22-0 and then 17-0 in a doubleheader at home in softball.
“Our team as a whole was able to bring in the hits against Sisters,” said Coach Karyn Hartsook. Just two errors in both games is encouraging for the defense. Hutchins and Walker both did well in the circle to shut out Sisters. Marissa Kurtz and Sunhee Bitter again are both performing tremendously with their offense.”
Elsewhere, undefeated Junction City beat Elmira 8-0 and 3-2 in a doubleheader to take a strong lead in the Sky-Em League. Junction City is first in statewide rankings. Elmira is sixth in OSAA rankings, and Sweet Home ranked 13th.
With Sweet Home’s wins and Elmira’s losses, the Huskies, 5-3, are in second and a full game ahead of Elmira, 4-3, and Sutherlin, 4-4. Trailing in fifth is Cottage Grove is 1-7, and in sixth is Sisters, 1-7.
The Huskies were scheduled to play Junction City Tuesday on the road, travel to Sutherlin Friday and host Elmira at 4:30 p.m. on May 1.

Ashtyn Walker gave up her only hit to Outlaw Sophia Affatati, who singled on a ground ball to center field.
Sisters flew out, walked and then grounded out twice to end the first inning.
Bitter led off walking for the Huskies. She scored on an error at third on a ground ball by Graci Zanona. Zanona advanced to third on the same error. Marissa Kurtz singled, sending Zanona home, and she scored on a left field on a line drive by Allison Miner.
Ally Tow lined out to second turning a double play at shortstop to send Miner to the dugout. The Huskies went on to score five more runs before Sisters could get out of the inning.
Sweet Home scored nine in the next inning and four in the third, 22 runs, 10 earned, on 20 hits, including a home run by Ally Tow.
In the circle, Walker gave up one walk and one hit while striking out five in five innings.
For Sisters, Spitler walked four and struck out two.
At bat, Bitter and Kurtz each went 4-4, Bitter with four runs and Kurtz with two runs and five RBIs. Tow went 3-4 with two runs and four RBIs.
Torree Hawken, Miner and Walker each had two hits, Hawken with a run, Miner with two RBIs and a run and Walker with two runs and two RBIs.
Bailee Hartsook, Savannah Hutchins and Zanona each had a hit, Hartsook with a run and RBI, Hutchins with three runs and an RBI and Zanona with three runs and an RBI.

Hutchins opened the second game from the circle three up, three down giving her team the chance to start scoring.
Bitter led off flying out to right field. Jasmine Carter reached on an error at shortstop to get the game going for the Huskies.
Kurtz scored Carter, who advanced to second on a wild pitch, on a line drive to right field. Kurtz stole second and made it home on a line drive double to center field by Tow. Hutchins singled to drive in Tow.
Hutchins scored another Huskies run as Bailee Hartsook reached on a right-field error.
The Huskies scored seven more in the second inning, four in the third and two more in the fourth to win the game. Sisters reached base twice, on a walk in the top of four and a single in the top of the fifth.
Hutchins struck out 11 Outlaws and gave up just one hit and a single walk in the second game.
For Sisters, Malloy gave up 14 hits, 11 walks and 17 runs, 11 of them earned, and struck out one.
At bat, Tow went 2-3 with a double and a home run. Bitter went 3-4, with a run and RBI.
Hawken and Hutchins each had two hits, Hawken with two runs and an RBI and Hutchins with three runs and an RBI.
Hitting once were Hartsook, with two runs and three RBIs; Kylie Armstrong, with two runs and an RBI; Carter with two runs; and Kurtz with two runs and two RBIs. Zanona had an RBI.
Yount led Sisters at bat with one hit.
