Sweet Home students scout their futures at Classroom to Careers Expo

Students from Sweet Home Junior High School toured the Classroom to Careers Expo Friday, Sept. 14, in Lebanon, where industry leaders showed the kids what type of well-paying occupations and careers are available in the area.

Jacob Sieminski urged his friends to join him in touring the SamCare Mobile Medicine vehicle.

“I have an aunt who works in healthcare, and I always thought it would be kinda cool to do it,” Jacob said. “Also, my dad does electrical, so I’m kinda torn if I wanna do what my dad does or what my aunt does.”

But Jacob also looked at other options, such as Weyerheauser, where he learned how much timber they get every year and how they process it.

The East Linn County Classroom to Careers Expo is held every year by a partnership between the Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Santiam, and the Lebanon and Sweet Home school districts.
