Sweet Home Swimmers Active Through Summer

A number of Sweet Home Swim Club members have been making splashes in pools far and wide this summer.

R.J. Abbott competed in the 2023 Western Zone Long Course Meters Senior Championships from July 25-29 in Clovis, Calif.

Abbott placed 115th in the 100 Freestyle with a life-time best time of 58.11. He also swam the 200 Freestyle, placing 114th with a life-time best of 2:07.27. Abbott finished off his meet swimming the 50 freestyle, placing 137th.

Khloe Sautel was selected by Oregon Swimming to represent TEa.m. OREGON at the 2023 Western Zone Age Group Championships in Boise, Idaho from Aug. 2-5. Only 60 athletes across Oregon are selected, ranging in age from 11 to 14. There are 15 states represented at the championships. Sautel placed 44th in the 100 Freestyle, 50th in the 200 Freestyle, 63rd in the 100 Backstroke, 57th in the 200 Individual Medley and 66th in the 50 Freestyle.

The Sweet Home Swim Club also attended the 2023 OSI Arena 11andO Long Course State Championships from July 20-23 in Gresham at Mount Hood Community College.

In that event, Grayson Savri placed 27th in the 200 Individual Medley, 16th in the 200 Backstroke, 15th in the 400 Freestyle, 18th in the 100 Backstroke and 17th in the 200 Freestyle.

Abbott placed 47th in the 100 Freestyle.

Kirsten Sautel placed 39th in the 50 Freestyle, 10th in the 200 Breaststroke, making her first Summer Sectionals cut, 28th in the 400 Individual Medley, 32nd in the 100 Freestyle and 4th in the 100 Breaststroke, making a second Summer Sectionals cut. Sautel also made a Sweet Home Swim Club record in the 50 Breaststroke, going a 36.83.

Khloe Sautel placed 4th in the 200 Individual Medley, 7th in the 50 Freestyle, 2nd in the 400 Freestyle, 3rd in the 100 Freestyle, 9th in the 100 Backstroke, and 4th in the 200 Freestyle.
