Three Sweet Home swimmers competed for Sweet Home in regional meets in March, facing some of the top swimmers in the Northwest.
Kirsten Sautel represented Sweet Home Swim Club at the 2023 Northwest Spring Speedo Sectionals March 10-12 at Federal Way Aquatic Center in Washington.
Sectionals are a qualifying competition for more advanced meets leading up to the junior nationals.
Sautel placed 85th in the 100 Breaststroke, 129th in the 200 Individual Medley, and 132nd in th the 50 Freestyle.
Breeza Rodriguez and Khloe Sautel represented Sweet Home at the 2023 Northwest Region Age Group Championships on March 16-19, also in Federal Way. The competition included swimmers from Washington, Hawaii, Alaska, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.
Rodriguez placed ninth in the 100 Backstroke, 12th in the 200 Backstroke, 17th in the 50 Freestyle, and 22nd in the 100 Freestyle.
Khloe Sautel was sixth in the 200 Freestyle, eighth in the 100 Freestyle, 13th in the 500 Freestyle, and 14th in the 50 Freestyle.
The Sautel sisters also represented Sweet Home at the 2023 Western Zones Senior Championship March 29-April 1, again in Federal Way.
The Western Zones competition represents the western half of the United States and includes athletes who are 19 years old and younger, who have posted qualifying times to compete in particular events.
Khloe Sautel was entered in four events but only swam two due to sickness. She was 57th in the 500 Freestyle and 160th in the 50 Freestyle.
Kirsten Sautel made the finals in the 100 Breaststroke, finishing 35th. She also placed 69th in the 200 Freestyle, 96th in the 100 Freestyle, and 98th in the 50 Freestyle.
