Sweet Home woman faces jail time after no-contest plea to forgery charge

Kendra Lynne Montoya, 19, of Sweet Home, pleaded no contest to and was convicted on a charge of first-degree forgery stemming from an incident on Sept. 12, 2017 involving alleged attempted use of counterfeit money.

The maximum penalty is five years in prison. She is lodged at the Linn County Jail. According to the inmate roster, she is scheduled to be released on Feb. 24, 2018 on the charge.

A charge of criminal possession of a forged instrument from that same date was dismissed.

Montoya submitted pleas in several other cases on Jan. 8 for charges including theft and possession of a controlled substance.

A sentencing hearing was held on Jan. 10 but court documents regarding the sentencing, other than for the first-degree forgery conviction were not available at press time.

She pled guilty to Oct. 20, 2017 charges of second-degree theft and possession of a controlled substance, heroin. The maximum sentence for each charge is 364 days in jail. A charge of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine from the same date was dismissed.

Montoya pled guilty to Aug. 18, 2017 charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance, heroin.

Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle has a maximum sentence of five years. The second charge has a maximum penalty of one year. A charge of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine was dismissed.

She also pled guilty to an Aug. 30, 2017 charge of failure to appear on a criminal citation. The maximum penalty is one year in jail.

Charges of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine and disorderly conduct were dismissed.

Montoya pleaded guilty to an April 7, 2017 charge of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, which has a maximum sentence of five years in jail. She also pled guilty to a Sept. 1, 2017 charge of failure to appear which has a maximum sentence of five years.
