Dr. Alan Blake is continuing to improve this week after suffering a stroke in the Ukraine about two weeks ago.
Blake is a doctor at Samaritan Health Services Sweet Home Family Medicine.
“Dr. Blake was with a medical mission team in the Ukraine at an orphanage,” said Ian Rollins, marketing and public relations coordinator for Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital. “The day he arrived, he had a stroke.”
Blake spent a couple of days in a hospital in the Ukraine before transferring to a hospital in Budapest, Hungary, where he underwent surgery to relieve pressure on his brain, Rollins said. Following the surgery, he transferred to a hospital in Bavaria, Germany, where he’s receiving better care, and his condition is improving.
Blake is a longtime medical provider with Samaritan, Rollins said, and he has been been in Sweet Home for a number of years.
“We’re doing everything we can to take care of his patients in the interim,” Rollins said. The staff and providers are stepping up to make sure service is uninterrupted.
“Our thoughts and best wishes are with Dr. Blake and his family,” Rollins said.
