Sweet Home’s Senior American team, coached by Tim Holly, lost a tough back-and-forth game 6-5 to Mt. Angel in eight innings in the first round of district playoffs in Senior American South baseball Friday night, July 14. Sweet Home trailed until the fourth inning., but led 5-2 going into the seventh. Mt. Angel scored three runs in the seventh inning to tie the game and then won on an eighth-inning base hit. At upper left, Sweet Home’s Cole Baxter gets caught in a run-down, but was ruled safe due to interference. At left, pitcher Dawson Armstrong gets congratulations from third baseman Russell Holly after retiring the side. Armstrong, pitching four innings, threw his best game of the year, Holly said.
