Getting a taste of the district meet facility and atmosphere, Sweet Home’s swimmers came away from the Albany Pre-District Meet Saturday with four first-place finishes for the girls and seven for the boys €“ including wins in all three relays.
The non-scoring competition gave the Huskies a chance to swim in the pool they will compete in at the District Meet Feb.
12-13, and a chance to see all the teams that will swim against Sweet Home in districts.
“This is a great meet for all the kids, but especially for the swimmers who haven’t been in a big meet atmosphere,” Coach Doug Peargin said.
“As a team we take the parts of our races that we see we can improve on and really work on those aspects of our events, such as turns, starts, proper warm-ups, race strategy and knowing our opponents well enough to take advantage of their weakness in the race.
“We’re in shape now and it’s time to sharpen our skills and clean up our mistakes in the next couple of weeks before the District Meet.”
