The Sweet Home swimmers are sharpening their focus on the Feb. 10 district meet, having faced all the teams they will meet at that competition, according to Coach Doug Peargin.
“I’m real pleased with where we’re at,” Peargin said. “We’ve worked real hard this year. The kids are in great shape.”
The Huskies hosted district rivals Junction City and Philomath on Friday, Jan. 20. Sweet Home won both competitions as the girls scored 91 points to Philomath’s 57 and Junction City’s 22. The boys posted 72 points to Philomath’s 52 and Junction City’s 45.
On Tuesday, Jan. 17, Sweet Home swept Silverton and Cascade. The Husky boys scored 69 to Cascade’s 55 and Silverton’s 42, while the girls scored 89 to beat Silverton (44) and Cascade (37).
“This was our best meet of the season thus far,” said Peargin of the Silverton-Cascade meet. “We’re swimming real well for still being as as tired as we are. We’ll go daily doubles for another week or so before we go once a day and that’s when we’ll start resting up for District.
It’s been a fun season so far and with District coming up, now the real fun starts.”
The Huskies will travel to the Albany Sprints all-district invitational on Saturday, Jan. 28. They will then host Blanchett, North Marion and Cascade on Thursday, Feb. 2, in a final tune-up before the district meet on Feb. 10-11.
