Sweet Home’s swimmers got their feet wet for the new season Friday, hosting Blanchet, Stayton and Kennedy in a meet that the Huskies won easily, not just with depth but with top finishes.
“We had a ton of great swims,” said new Head Coach A. Jay Bronson. “The score kind of shows that.”
He said contributions came from all levels of experience, veterans “all the way down to our brand-new newbies.”
Winners for the Husky girls were freshman Kirsten Sautel, in her first high school 200 Freestyle and 50 Butterfly, senior Chloe Tyler in the 50 Freestyle and 50 Backstroke, senior Malia Hewitt in the 100 Individual Medley and the 50 Breaststroke, senior Jamie Seward in the 100 Freestyle, and senior Isabel Sayer in the 500 Freestyle.
For the boys, sophomore Blake Arthur won the 100 IM and 50 Butterfly, while freshman RJ Abbott took the 500 Freestyle and fellow freshman Boden Sayer won the 200 Freestyle, which he had to swim alone.
Sweet Home won all the relays, on both the boys and girls sides.
“This is a chance to see where we stand and plan for where we are going to go,” Bronson said. “We’ll be giving everybody a shot at different events so we can decide where they will compete in district and at state.”
Sweet Home will host Marist, Salem Academy and North Marion at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10.
