Sweet Home Swim Club members Mahlia “Josie” Hewitt and Chloe Tyler hold trophies they received at Oregon Swimming’s Top-5 Banquet, which honors swimmers with the top-fastest times in the state in various age groups. Both Tyler and Hewitt had three top-five times in the state for their age groups over the swim season from Sept. 1, 2020 to Aug. 31, 2021. Tyler had the third-fastest time in fhe 15-16-year-old 200-yard freestyle (1:55.73), was fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (57.39) and fifth in the 100-meter backstroke (107.68). Hewitt was fourth in the 17-18-year-old 100-meter breaststroke (1:13.94) and the 200-meter breaststroke (2:43.30), and was fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.35). Also, the Sweet Home Swim Club was also honored as the second best team (size less than 50 swimmers) In the state overall for the long course season and fourth best in the state for short course season.
