Taking care of Ames Creek

Robert Sayers, left, and Gilbert Guzman remove blackberries from the banks of Ames Creek below Weddle Bridge in Sankey Park. They were assisting the South Santiam Youth Watershed Council with a work party along Ames Creek on Saturday. About 20 members of the community, including Youth Watershed Council members and city staff, were involved in the effort. The purpose was primarily to remove invasive species. The Youth Watershed Council has adopted lower Sankey Park as part of the city’s new adopt-a-park program.
