Teen arrested after allegedly stabbing father

A Sweet Home teen was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 25, after allegedly stabbing his father during an altercation, according to the Sweet Home Police Department.

According to a department statement, SHPD received a report of a possible stabbing at approximately 7:41 p.m. Tuesday. Officers responded to the 1200 block of 40th Avenue and made contact with the male victim.

Officers were told there had been an altercation between a 17-year-old boy and his parents. The altercation became physical and subsequently the boy produced a folding pocket knife and, police said, stabbed his father in the leg. The victim had a puncture wound just above his left knee, according to police.

The wound was approximately 1 inch long and required stitches, according to the statement.

The boy was taken into custody for domestic violence – second degree assault and -unlawful use of a weapon. He was transported to the Linn Benton Juvenile Detention Facility where he was lodged.
