Teen rescued from mud at Foster Lake

Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District personnel rescued a 13-year-old boy who was stuck waist-deep in mud at Foster Lake Tuesday afternoon, March 22.

According to a department statement, rescue personnel were dispatched about 12:50 p.m. to find the boy stuck about 100 feet offshore from the Caulkins Boat Ramp in “extremely unstable mud,” according to the statement.

“It took firefighters 50 minutes to rescue the boy,” the statement said. “Firefighters used patient immobilization boards to create a makeshift bridge. Once firefighters reached the boy, they created a platform to be able to free him.”
