Ten candidates vie for school board

Ten candidates are running for the six open seats on the Sweet Home School Board in the May 16 special district election, with the closure of the filing period last week.

The Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District has three open seats, for which two candidates have filed.

The Sweet Home Cemetery Maintenance District has one open seat, for which no candidates filed, according to the county Elections Office.

Candidates for the six open seats on the Sweet Home School District Board of Directors are:

— Amanda M. Carter of rural Sweet Home, who is running for the Liberty seat, Zone 2.

— Mary L. Massey of Sweet Home, who is running for the Foster seat, Zone 3.

— Kevin I. Hill of Foster, who is running for the Foster seat, Zone 3.

— Floyd E. Neuschwander of Foster, who is running for the Cascadia seat, Zone 4.

— Jack R. Lapham of Foster, who is running for the At Large seat, Zone 5, which is open due to the recent resignation of Jason Van Eck.

— Michael E. Adams of Sweet Home, who is running for the At Large seat, Zone 5.

— Jenna J. Northern of Crawfordsville, who is running for the Crawfordsville seat, Zone 6.

— Leon R. Vineyard of Sweet Home, who is running for the At Large seat, Zone 9.

— Manuel Grajeda of Sweet Home, who is running for the At Large seat, Zone 9.

— Dale Keene of rural Sweet Home, who is running for the At Large seat, Zone 9.

Adams, Hill and Keene are incumbents.

Candidates for two of the three open seats on the SHFAD Board are:

— James C. Yon of Sweet Home, who is running for Position 1.

— Incumbent J. Charlene Adams of Sweet Home, who is running for Position 2.

Mailing of ballots to local voters will begin April 26.

The deadline to submit ballots is 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 16.
