Ten local men were honored at the Fourth Annual Honoring the American Man Dinner and Recognition June 12 at the Sweet Home VFW Hall.
Nominees honored were Ron Moore, Ken Jensen, Mickey Farley, Jake Comstock, Ben Dahlenburg, Dennis Lindsay, Fred Dodge, Greg Mahler, Ramiro Santana and Will Justham. They were nominated by individuials who submitted letters stating why they believed their nominee should be recognized. The men were all honored guests, receiving their dinner, a program book, a plaque made by ArtsPlus Signs of Albany, and a goodie bag.
The program included a flag salute led by Linn County Commissioner Will Tucker, a roast beef dinner provided by the VFW, and four songs performed by Cheyenne Patton, who ended with “God Bless the USA.”
LB Productions video taped the event, Don Gonzales took pictures and Don Ross painted a picture at the event that was donated for the live auction at the end of the evening. All of the $480 earned from the live auction went to the Sweet Home Firemen Fireworks Fund.
Representatives of the Sweet Home Sportman’s Holiday Court, Miss Oregon Teen USA and Miss Linn County Teen USA helped with the live auction and greeting the guests.
