Tennis returns to Sweet Home’s courts

Sweet Home’s Brytnee Hart-Campbell, above, returns a shot against Creswell last week.

Sweet Home’s fledgling tennis team combined with Creswell’s girls in a mixed-doubles “exhibition match” because Creswell’s boys were scheduled to play elsewhere.

Coach Brian Brands said scores were not recorded: “It was just a fun exhibition match with, mostly, our boys playing mixed doubles with the Creswell girls.”

However, in a scored match on Tuesday, April 7, at Philomath, Ben Perry won 2-0 in No. 1 singles and Devon Sharp won 2-0 in No. 3 singles for Sweet Home.

The Creswell match was the first high school competition in the sport in over 30 years at Sweet Home, Brands noted.
