Teresa Lewis was named the Most Valuable Player Wednesday night during the Husky volleyball dessert.
Lewis was called the “quintessential player” by Coach Heide Nichol.
“We knew that when we saw her as a freshman she was a great athlete,” Coach Nichol said.
A senior, Lewis is an aggressive player who compiled an impressive statistical profile.
During league games, she had a 91% accuracy rating in setting, hit 20 of 22 dumps, had 67 of 97 digs, 152 of 179 serves, 19 of 25 receptions and 99 of 126 hits.
Lewis has 33 kills.
She was named first team all-league setter.
Other top team awards included: Most Improved: Elissa McCartin; Most Inspirational: Ashley Smith; Best Offense: Lisa Brocard; Best Defense: Leialoha Himan-Teves; Best Defense: Katie Reynolds.
Coach Nichol said her squad was young, with only two returning seniors (Lewis and Reynolds).
“Katie was the team’s shepherd,” Coach Nichol said of her team leaders. “She guided the girls and Teresa was the sheep dog who drove the team to become better and work together due to her intensity.”
Reynolds was credited with a “great work ethic” and earned second team all-league honors as a defensive specialist.
Junior letter winners included Lisa Brocard, a first team all-league hitter; Ashley Horn, a second team all-league middle hitter; Ashley Smith and Susie Sieg.
Brocard had 255 hits on 295 attempts and 117 kills. She had 25 blocks, 16 aces and served 117 of 138. Her dig rate was 100 of 133 for 75%.
Horn hit 114 of 123 attempts, was 64 of 89 for serves and 49 of 76 in digs. She had 60 blocks and 13 aces.
Smith hit 154 of 179, had 40 kills, 8 blocks, was 19 of 35 in digs and 5 of 6 serving.
Sieg was 72 of 85 hitting, 32-40 setting, had 17 blocks and 30 kills.
Sophomores included Elissa McCartin, Kari McGuyre, Leialoha Himan-Teves and Nikki Emmert.
McCartin was 66 of 1043 hitting, had 26 blocks and six digs.
McGuyre was 5-5 setting, had four kills, two blocks and five receptions.
Himan-Teves completed 93 of 107 serves, had 19 aces, 58 digs and was 66 of 108 in receptions.
Emmert was 248-312 in setting, had 26 digs, was 99 of 121 serving and had six kills.
Junior varsity awards included: Hustle: Ashley Wall; Defense: Michelle Fields and Holly Keesecker; Offense: Alicia Moyer; Most Inspirational: Katie Smith; Most Improved: Danielle Thireault; MVP: Lisa Basham.
Freshmen awards: Best Hitter: Ashley Gorgita; Best Defense: Holly Reynolds; Hustle: Hannah Swanson; Most Improved: Emma Meyers; Most Valuable: Whitney Miller; Most Inspirational: Samantha Pierce.
