Thanks to Meals on Wheels vols

A good meal and good time was had by Sweet Home Meals On Wheels volunteers this last Saturday at the Senior Center.

I was glad to see that almost all of my volunteers showed up for their well-deserved luncheon. We had several gift baskets that were raffled and won by volunteers. The gift baskets included gift certificates donated by area merchants.

I would like to take this opportunity to express a great big thank-you to merchants and others who contributed to our party.

First and foremost, Thank you to Mark McDonald, manager of the S.H. Thriftway. We all appreciate your generosity for your contribution towards our meal for the party and providing coffee for volunteers and obtaining the racks for the plastic grocery bags.

Thank you to Donna at Foster Lake Mall, Beth from State Farm Insurance, Jim from Santiam Auto Supply, Garry from Santiam Feed and Garden Center and Lorna Klapan, licensed massage therapist (and MOW volunteer) and Emily for the haircut/style certificates.

All of you helped to make the gift baskets extra special. Thank you also to the Sweet Home Senior Center for letting us have the kitchen and dining room for the day. Thank you to Dennis Speck for making us the best coleslaw in the county. Thank you to Donna Strahm and Linda Walker (also MOW volunteers) for bringing us a variety of yummy cheese cakes for dessert.

Thank you, Bobby Dennis, for your terrific grilling ability and donating your time to help me with this party. And thank you again to all of the volunteers who package and deliver hot fresh meals (along with a smile) to area seniors.

I cannot thank you enough. You all ROCK!

Norene Dennis
