On Oct. 29 the Police Department responded to an urgent call at the Sweet Home Seventh-day Adventist Church, at 4th & Holley. An officer was waved down by a woman who noticed someone down outside the church.
David Jones, 70, the church’s head deacon, was found on the ground, unresponsive. The officer who responded to this emergency evaluated the situation and immediately contacted the fire and rescue along with other police officers, who arrived very quickly.
Together, the police department, fire and rescue team and members of our community, worked together to try and save Dave’s life. He was transported to Lebanon Community Hospital where they did everything they could in an effort to save his life as well.
Despite everyone’s earnest efforts, Dave passed away on Friday evening, Oct. 31. The Sweet Home Seventh-day Adventist Church would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to each of you who contributed in helping with this emergency.
Although Dave didn’t survive, knowing that everything possible was done to help him is of great comfort to his family and his church family.
Thank you, to each one of you, for all that you did.
