Thanks to volunteers

Editor:

I want to use this avenue to publicly thank the many volunteers that quietly give of their time, energy, and resources to our schools, and especially to Oak Heights. We do try to thank our volunteers as often as possible, but it is never enough.

Our volunteers work around their own schedules, daily jobs, and busy family life. They are at school before the kids arrive and there after the kids leave. Some volunteer daily, some weekly, and some in a momentís notice. They work in the classrooms and in the cafeteria. They help with repairs, sew, clean, build, chaperone, coach, and organize all sorts of activities, with kids in mind. They come and go daily, not looking for recognition or praise.

However, the staff recognizes them and we want to let them know how valuable they are. School staff members often comment on how thankful they are because we have such giving parents, grandparents, and community members who really care about all our kids, not just their own.

We have volunteers that have literally devoted years of time and service while their children go though our school system. They are dependable and trustworthy in everything we ask. We realize how fortunate we are to have such wonderful volunteers. We are thankful for them.

Their time and service provide a richer experience and a stronger education for our students. It takes teamwork, like this, to accomplish all the things that happen in a school during the year. We know we could not do it as well without our volunteers.

Each year I am impressed at the number of clock hours given to our schools by our dedicated volunteers. We appreciate your encouragement and unending faithfulness to our schools.

I am proud to be part of the Sweet Home School District partly because of the ongoing accomplishments from our students, whether big or small. Our volunteers play a big role in these accomplishments. I am grateful for the hundreds of people in this community who continue to give and serve, and help make our schools and community such a wonderful place to live and raise a family.

THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS!
