On Feb. 9, several Sweet Home Police Department officers, family members and friends will join hundreds of zany souls who will take the plunge into the freezing Willamette River to raise money for the athletes of Special Olympics Oregon.

The department is seeking $1,500 in donations.

The plunge is supported by the Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Donations will help support year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
