Thelma Marie Garrett, 83, of Sweet Home died Nov. 4, 2011.
She was born Aug. 15, 1928 in Zanesville, Ohio to Eugene and Elma (Hewitt) Barber.
She moved to Lebanon in 1970 and lived in the home that her husband Chester built.
Mrs. Garrett was a certified nursing assistant and a great homemaker. The most important thing in her life was her family and her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
She was a long-time member of Jehovah’s Witnesses and had a very strong faith.
Mrs. Garrett is survived by nine children: James Garrett of
Prineville, Kenneth Garrett of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., Linda Lamer of Jefferson, Nancy Golladay of Joplin, Mo., Wanda Garrett Haak of Corvallis, Sherry Garrett of Puyallup, Wayne Garrett, Richard Garrett and Darryl Garrett, all of Sweet Home; step-children William Garrett of Redmond and Marjorie Garrett of Reno; a sister, Dorothy Mero Foley of Alabama; 39 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Garrett; step-son Clayton Garrett; brother LeRoy Barber; and one granddaughter.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Memorial contributions can be made in Mrs. Garrett’s name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
