Sweet Home’s Junior American Legion baseball team opened the 2004 season with a bang, losing in the finals of the Albany tournament 4-1 to a team from Winston.
The team, composed of 11-12 year old boys, is sponsored by THI.
In the championship game, the squad started off strong in the first two innings, but produced only one run.
Coach JonPaule’ Williams said he was pleased with the squad effort throughout the entire weekend.
“The boys played 110 percent during every game,” Coach Williams said. “This is a very competitive bunch of boys who love to be at practice and who look forward to the challenge ahead.”
THI’s tournament tally included: THI 4 McMinnville 3, THI 7 Jackson 4, THI 7 Gladstone 5, THI 7 Rockwood 6 playoffs, Winston 4 THI 1 championship.
